5 House Plants That Are Easy to Maintain

Having plants in your home can help your interior truly reach its full potential. They're known for increasing oxygen flow in the home and creating a brighter, greener living environment for you and your family. Unfortunately, not everyone has the type of lifestyle where they can care for plants that require a lot of maintenance in order to survive indoors. But not to worry, there are plenty of different plant varieties out there that allow for even the busiest homeowners to keep them alive in the home. If you're looking for house plants that require little maintenance, turn to some of these varieties:

o Snake Plant - it may not sound pretty, but it's a very beautiful, long leafed plant. The snake plant doesn't require a lot of light and it doesn't require a lot of watering, either. If you have an apartment that doesn't have much natural light coming in, this could be a great solution for you.

o Any type of Ivy - ivy is great for the home since it, like the snake plant, does not require much light in order to live. There are plenty of different varieties, so you can be sure to find a style that compliments your home's design. Ivy makes a great addition to hanging planters, which make great window accent pieces.

o Wax Plant - If you do have natural light coming into your home, the wax plant needs a bit of extra light than the aforementioned plants, but it is still easy to maintain when it comes to watering and maintenance. If you have a sunny living or dining room, a wax plant should do just fine.

o Christmas Cactus - this style of cactus is known for being the simplest type of cacti when it comes to maintenance and has been said to do "better if it is ignored". If you have low light, the plant should still do fine - but with more direct sunlight, you'll have a better chance for flower blooms to appear in the winter time.

o Pothos - The pothos plant is said to be one of the easiest to grow and can survive even under artificial lights. If you're looking for a new addition to an office with fluorescent lights, the pothos is right for you. But beware, if left to dry out for too long, the leaves will begin to wilt and fall off - so keeping up with waterings is still important.

So whether you've become scared of your "black thumb" or you're looking to take the plunge into caring for houseplants for the first time, try some of these varieties out. By choosing plants that are both beautiful and easy to maintain, you'll be able to add beauty and life to your home without having to stress over whether or not you forgot to water the plants before you left for work. Whether it's your living room, your office, your bedroom, or even your kitchen that needs a touch of green - you'll be able to instantly see the benefits that having houseplants in your home or office can have.
